Chinese doctors are utilizing 5G surgical robots to perform remote surgeries on patients in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. In a recent operation, Professor Luo Qingquan from Shanghai Chest Hospital successfully removed a lung mass from a female patient at Kashgar People’s Hospital. Operating from Shanghai, Luo controlled robotic arms that carried out the procedure in real-time.
Similarly, Dr. Lin Tianxin from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong remotely performed surgery on a patient in Kashgar, approximately 5,000 kilometers away. These surgeries highlight the use of advanced technology in regions like Xinjiang, where there is a shortage of specialist doctors and medical equipment.
