A sinkhole approximately 100 meters in diameter and 10 meters deep formed in a pasture in the Karapınar district of Konya. The giant sinkhole was noticed by shepherds grazing sheep in the pasture and authorities and locals were immediately notified.
“My shepherd heard a noise at night. He said it was as loud as if a plane had crashed. When they went in the morning, they came across the giant sinkhole and informed me. It possesses extreme risk for any living creature passing nearby in the evening. This area is surrounded by sinkholes. There is also a sinkhole 100 meters away from the house where I live,” said a local.
