Typhoon Bebinca Forces Evacuations in Shanghai

Typhoon Bebinca, the strongest storm to hit Shanghai in 75 years, has led to the evacuation of 9,000 people and caused significant disruptions in China’s financial hub. With wind speeds reaching 151 km/h, the storm made landfall in Lingang New City. In preparation, over 400,000 people were moved to safe areas, and authorities issued a red alert, urging the city’s 25 million residents to stay indoors.

All flights, train services, and major highways were suspended, while fallen trees and floodwaters caused further damage. Typhoon Bebinca is expected to impact the surrounding provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui with heavy rain and strong winds.
