In Malatya’s Darende district, restoration is underway on the historic Hacılar Bridge, a 28-meter-long Ottoman structure damaged by the February 6 earthquakes. Built in 1757 by Abidin Pasha over the Tohma Stream, this cultural landmark is undergoing careful restoration to maintain its original character.
Sariye Levent Taşdemir, from the General Directorate of Highways, emphasized the importance of preserving the bridge’s historic integrity, noting that the restoration is focused on eliminating damage while honoring the bridge’s 300-year-old design. The project aims to ensure the bridge’s preservation for future generations.
