Twelve workers were killed in an explosion at a steel factory in Xaloztoc, Tlaxcala, Mexico. The incident occurred overnight, causing liquid steel to spill and leading to a fire that firefighters managed to extinguish. One worker remains in critical condition, according to the state prosecutor’s office. Authorities suspect the explosion was triggered by a collapse of the melting machine, possibly when molten steel came into contact with water. An investigation into the exact cause is underway. Tlaxcala Governor Lorena Cuellar extended her condolences to the victims’ families.
