Hundreds of people took to the streets and accused authorities, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, of negligence and corruption following the accident that killed 14 people at a train station in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia, last week.
The protesters, who chanted slogans such as “thieves” and “Arrest Vucic” and carried banners reading “You have blood on your hands” and “You will pay for this,” broke the windows of a municipality building and threw firecrackers and flares at it, after which police intervened with tear gas.
Serbian prosecutors stated that 48 people have been questioned in connection with the incident and that important evidence has been obtained for the investigation.
