The Kestros Fountain in the ancient city of Perge, Antalya, believed to date back to the 2nd century and the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian, has been restored to flow once more after 1,800 years.
Located 17 kilometers east of Antalya, Perge was a prominent city in the Pamphylia region during the Hellenistic period. Excavations at the site, which began in 1946 and are now led by Prof. Dr. Şebnem Sedef Çokay Kepçe, have brought renewed attention to its historical significance.
The Kestros Fountain, known as one of the city’s most magnificent structures, is listed on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage Temporary List.
