Supporters of Pakistan’s imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan staged protests, clashing with police in Islamabad. Authorities blocked roads to the capital with containers, restricted communication services, and banned public gatherings. Tear gas was used to disperse protesters, and several were detained.
Ali Amin Gandapur, a key ally of Khan, urged supporters to gather near D-Chowk, close to government and diplomatic facilities. Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is demanding his release, the release of detained leaders, and the resignation of the government over alleged election fraud. Khan has been in prison since August last year.
