Gallipoli Castle Wins International Heritage Award

Seddülbahir Castle, a 17th-century fortress on Türkiye’s Gallipoli Peninsula, has won the “Heritage Project” award in the Architecture Category at the prestigious Dezeen Awards. The castle, built by Hatice Turhan Sultan and pivotal in the Gallipoli Wars, was the site of the Allied Powers’ first bombardment on November 3, 1914, and where the first martyrs fell defending the Çanakkale Strait.

Restored after a century, the castle now stands as a symbol of Turkish resilience.
