FBI Director Wray to Resign Before Trump Takes Office

US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray announced that he will resign in January before Donald Trump’s takes office as president. “After weeks of careful consideration, I have determined that the right thing for the bureau is to continue in my position until the end of the current administration in January and then resign,” said Wray, adding that it is “the best way to avoid further embroiling the bureau.”

Under Wray, who was appointed to a 10-year term by Trump in 2017, the FBI launched the most comprehensive investigation in FBI history into far-right groups and Trump supporters who stormed the US Congress on January 6, 2021, and hundreds of protesters were arrested.

Last weekend, Trump said in an interview that he was not very happy with Wray’s actions, referring to the FBI’s raid on his Florida home in 2022, saying, “(Wray) raided my house. He invaded Mar-a-Lago.”
