Following the collapse of the 61-year Baath regime in Syria and the 53-year rule of the Assad family, the opposition, who wanted to take revenge on the regime, set fire to Hafez Assad’s grave in his mausoleum in the cemetery in Latakia and opened fire on it.
“Hafez Assad’s grave was perfect before. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. With the fall of the Syrian regime, Hafez Assad’s grave here became unusable. It was burned and destroyed by the opposition,” said Mofeed from Latakia village.
