Syrian opposition forces have taken control of the Women’s Military Training Center near Damascus after regime troops evacuated military sites in the area.
Inside the center, opposition soldiers destroyed portraits of Bashar Assad and his father, Hafez Assad, burning their pictures. Documents revealing information about female regime soldiers were also discovered in the facility. The takeover marks a symbolic effort to erase remnants of the Assad regime from the capital.
