In New York’s Queens district, an armed attack on a nightclub left 11 people injured late last night. While two of the injured received treatment at the scene, the others were hospitalized. Police have not released an official statement, and the area around the nightclub remains under security control.
In a separate incident on New Year’s Eve, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove his pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, New Orleans, and later opened fire. The death toll from this attack has risen to 15. Jabbar, who was killed in a police shootout, was a former US military member.
The FBI revealed that Jabbar may not have acted alone and discovered homemade explosives in his vehicle and another location. A state of emergency has been declared in Louisiana following the attack.
