Marshall Fire that started in the US state of Colorado on Thursday morning have burned towns to ash, destroyed hundreds of homes and caused the evacuation of thousands of people. According to Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle, 3 people were reported missing in the Marshall Fire in Boulder County. “We’re very fortunate that we don’t have a list of 100 missing people, but unfortunately we do have three missing people” Pelle said. Pelle stated that search-and-rescue dogs will be used in the search operation. During his press briefing, Pelle said that the structures in the area where the missing people were being searched were completely burned and turned into ashes. Also 991 houses were burned and become unusable and 127 structures damaged in the Marshall Fire in Boulder County, according to Pelle. It’s been reported that 2.428 hectares of land burned to ash and more than 30 people were evacuated due to Marshall Fire.

It was reported that the heavy snowfall that was effective during the night extinguished most of the Marshall Fire and the thickness of the snow reached up to 8 inches in some regions. It was reported that heavy snowfall affected the search and rescue efforts negatively. The fire started Thursday due to a short circuit in power lines in Boulder County, according to the preliminary report of the investigation into the fires. As the flames spread rapidly due to the dry and windy weather, the people living in the area left their homes in panic.

Türkiye’s Fidan Calls for Leaders’ Summit on Ukraine War

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the recent peace talks in Istanbul have brought a new dimension to diplomatic efforts on Ukraine and proposed a leaders’ summit hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “A summit with leaders from Russia, Ukraine, and the US could help achieve a long-term ceasefire,” he said.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Fidan emphasized Türkiye’s ongoing diplomatic efforts, stating that President Erdoğan has been working actively since the war began. He added that talks in Istanbul on May 16 led to concrete results, including a prisoner swap.

Fidan shared insights from his prior visit to Moscow and said Russia is open to further talks on June 2. He stressed the importance of continuing momentum and involving international actors to build common ground for peace.

Fidan is also scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Andriy Yermak, Rustem Umerov, and representatives of the Crimean Tatar and Gagauz Turkish communities.
