Abdurrahman Ehşeni, a 13-year-old Syrian kickboxer, returned to his homeland from Türkiye through the Cilvegözü Border Gate, carrying the belt he won in an international tournament. After fleeing the war in Syria, Abdurrahman and his father, a kickboxing trainer, lived in Bursa for years, where he trained and finished second in the Kickboxing World Championship. Now back in Damascus, he aims to become a world champion in the upcoming tournament. The father and son will reunite with their family after five years to celebrate Ramadan and Eid.
Türkiye has faced a major fire crisis in 2025, with 3,044 fires recorded in the first six months—1,305 in forest areas and 1,739 outside forests. Alarmingly, 624 fires broke out in just the past week. Aerial firefighting teams responded with 16,035 sorties by helicopters and planes to battle the widespread blazes in western Türkiye.
