Syrians took to the streets after US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of all sanctions on Syria.

Celebrations were held in Damascus and other cities. Businesses launched campaigns, and the Syrian lira rose in value.

Trump made the announcement in Saudi Arabia, saying the decision was made with Türkiye and Saudi leaders. He called it the first step toward renewed ties with Syria’s new administration.

The US imposed sanctions in 2011, later expanded under the Caesar Act. Trump will meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara tomorrow in Saudi Arabia.
