Indian national Srruthi Lekha and his friend, who claimed that he got sick due to spoiled milk he bought earlier, filed a complaint with the supermarket on Wednesday evening in Magdeburg, Germany. Supermarket officials offered Lekha 30 Euro after talked with him upon the complaint. After Lekha and his friend didn’t accept the offer, another supermarket employee told them that they had to contact a lawyer and leave the supermarket. Thereupon, Lekha and his friend, who demanded back the milk box they returned, were forcibly removed from the supermarket by the security accompanied by racist remarks. Even though Lekha said “Don’t touch me”, security pushed and tried to remove him from supermarket. Lekha wrote on his social media account that supermarket security staff told him, “This is Germany, you are in our country, you will not be given any compensation” and also the milk carton was not returned back to him.
While Lekha, who posted his bad experiences on social media, has supported by many people, supermarket chain released a statement regarding the incident. Supermarket chain stated that the incident happened in their Magdeburg branch will be investigated and 2 private security staff, who showed racist behavior against Lekha and his friend, were fired.
