Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues its spread around the globe. In Mexico, air travel became paralyzed after airline employees and pilots infected with COVID-19. The Association of Aviation Pilots Mexico (ASPA) General Secretary Jose Humberto Gual Angeles stated that the COVID-19 test results of a total of 140 employees, whom 75 of them were pilots, working in Aeromexico and Aeromar airlines operating in Mexico, became positive. After the incident, infected pilots and airline employees were put under quarantine. Also, airlines canceled 22 domestic and international flights due to lack of personnel.
Meanwhile, some passengers whose flights were canceled were stuck at Mexico City International Airport for 24 hours. While wanting a solution to the incident, some passenger reacted to the airport staff. It’s been reported that the passengers waiting at the airport formed long queues and caused a crowd.
