North Korea Opens Kalma Tourist Complex, Eyes Russian Visitors

North Korea has opened a new 20,000-person tourism complex on the Kalma Peninsula in Wonsan to domestic tourists, with the first Russian tour group expected on July 7. Leader Kim Jong-un attended the opening ceremony, calling tourism a key to economic growth. Despite Pyongyang’s ambitions, South Korean officials say limited transport links may hinder foreign visitor numbers, with daily capacity estimated at 170 tourists via flights from Vladivostok.
