Extreme heat in Iran has triggered widespread power and water outages, with temperatures soaring to 50°C in some provinces. To curb rising energy demand, the government declared public holidays in 11 provinces, including Tehran and Khuzestan.
Around 20 million people face water shortages across 50 cities, while electricity usage in the capital has hit critical levels. President Masoud Pezeshkian blamed years of poor resource management, and health officials warned of dangerously high UV levels.
