The Gifford fire in California’s Los Padres National Forest has burned 72,460 acres since August 1st. Over 1,000 firefighters are battling the blaze, which is threatening 460 structures. Evacuations are underway in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, with Highway 166 closed. Three people have been injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
