Cargo Plane Engine Scrapes Runway in Taiwan

A UPS Boeing 747 cargo plane’s right engine scraped the runway during landing at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan amid strong winds from Typhoon Podul. Sparks were seen as the engine made contact, but no injuries were reported. Authorities said the aircraft had attempted to land twice earlier, but both attempts were aborted due to dangerous wind conditions.
