Turkish Airlines expanded its African network to 63 destinations with the launch of Port Sudan flights from Istanbul. The first flight, operated by a Boeing 737, was welcomed with a ceremony attended by Sudanese officials and citizens.
Flights will run twice weekly until September 29 and three times weekly thereafter. Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yıldız said the move shows Türkiye’s support for Sudan despite ongoing conflict, calling the airline a “pillar of Turkish foreign policy.” THY officials added the route will boost business, trade, education, and tourism ties.
