An air ambulance carrying a baby to the hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, crashed in front of the Methodist Church in the Drexel Hill area of Upper Darby town. Firefighters and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene. The baby, the pilot and 2 other people in the helicopter were slightly injured in the accident. Upper Darby Fire Chief Derrick Sawyer expressed his surprise that there were no casualties in the crash, which he described as “extraordinary”. Emergency officials said it was “incredible” that the helicopter crashed without damaging surrounding buildings or injuring anyone.
An investigation has been launched into the accident, the cause of which is not yet known.
