EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said “ceasefire in the Middle East held its first stress test,” calling it a good first phase but urging more action for lasting stability and humanitarian access.
Speaking before the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Kallas said the meeting would focus on Ukraine, stressing that Russia “only understands force.” She confirmed the EU aims to finalize its 19th sanctions package against Moscow this week.
Commenting on US efforts to broker peace in Ukraine, Kallas said Kyiv “cannot just surrender,” warning that doing so would embolden aggressors worldwide. She also criticized Vladimir Putin’s visit to Europe, saying it was “not nice to see someone wanted by the ICC in a European country.”
