The Turkish and American flags were raised in Manhattan, New York, during a ceremony marking the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye’s founding.
Held at Bowling Green Park, the event featured the Turkish and US national anthems and the simultaneous raising of both nations’ flags. The ceremony was attended by Türkiye’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Turkish-American community leaders, students, and citizens.
Ambassador Yıldız highlighted the Republic’s significance and Atatürk’s leadership, saying, “The Republic is the foundation of our state life.” He expressed pride in seeing the Turkish flag flown abroad, noting Türkiye’s growing global presence.
The annual tradition, organized by the Bowling Green Association since 2000, was held for the 57th time and concluded with chants of “Long live the Republic” as the Turkish flag continued to fly throughout the day.
