The death toll from floods and landslides caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi in the central Philippines has risen to 114, with 127 people still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Most of the deaths occurred in Cebu, where entire neighborhoods were submerged. Over 1.9 million people were affected nationwide, and nearly 128,000 families are staying in evacuation centers.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a national disaster, citing the scale of destruction and the threat of another approaching storm, Uwan. Typhoon Kalmaegi has now moved toward Vietnam.
