An earthquake struck off the coast of Paphos in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, shaking parts of Türkiye, Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the 5.2-magnitude quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and was felt by around one million people.
Experts linked the tremor to pressure between the African and Cyprus plates, calling it a typical regional event. No casualties or major damage were reported, but aftershocks were expected.
