The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah has risen to 334 in Sri Lanka, where 400 people remain missing and more than 1.3 million have been affected. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake called it the country’s worst-ever natural disaster and pledged full rebuilding with international support.
In Indonesia, the cyclone’s impact on Sumatra has pushed the death toll to 502. Authorities reported 217 deaths in North Sumatra, 96 in Aceh and 129 in West Sumatra, with hundreds still missing.
