South Asia Flood Death Toll Climbs to 1,220

 

Severe floods and landslides across South Asia have killed 1,220 people as heavy rains continue to devastate the region. Indonesia reported 631 deaths, 2,600 injuries, and 472 missing, with one million people evacuated.

In Sri Lanka, the toll from Cyclone Ditwah rose to 410, with 336 missing. Officials called the situation a “historic humanitarian crisis,” saying more than 1.1 million people were displaced and all 25 districts affected. Neighboring countries have sent emergency teams, but more aid is needed.

Thailand reported 176 deaths and Malaysia three, bringing the regional total to 1,220.
