The Touristic Eastern Express, running between Ankara and Kars, begins its 2025–2026 winter season on December 22—and tickets sold out weeks in advance. The 32-hour journey, a major attraction in Türkiye’s winter tourism boom, offers scenic views of snowy mountains, plains, and frozen rivers.
Kars Tourism Association President Halit Özer said demand remains strong, boosted by interest in Sarıkamış and social media. Two-person compartments start at 14,000 TL in December and rise to 17,000 TL in peak months. Package tours offered by agencies can cost more due to added services such as hotel stays, transfers, and guides.
