Russia Expels British Diplomat Over Intelligence Claims

Russia announced the expulsion of a British diplomat, accusing the individual of working for UK intelligence services. The Russian Foreign Ministry said Danae Dholakia, the UK’s chargé d’affaires ad interim, was summoned and informed that the diplomat’s accreditation had been revoked under Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The unnamed diplomat has been given two weeks to leave the country. Moscow said it would not tolerate covert intelligence activities on its territory. It warned that any escalation by United Kingdom would be met with a firm response.
