EU Council President Costa Vows To Defend International Law

Antonio Costa said the European Union will defend itself against all forms of pressure while protecting the rules-based international order. Speaking at the European Parliament, the EU Council President said the bloc has the power and means to protect its members, citizens, and companies. “We cannot accept the law of the strongest prevailing over the rights of the weakest,” Costa said. He stressed that international law is not optional and alliances cannot be treated as mere transactions.
