Mohammed Shia Sudani visited the Ain al-Asad Air Base after it was handed over to Iraqi forces by the US-led coalition, inspecting troop readiness and border security preparations. Sudani observed F-16 fighter jets during reconnaissance and patrol training, reviewing the air force’s operational capacity. He later traveled to the Qaim region on the Syria border, where he chaired a high-level security meeting with senior military and intelligence officials. Sudani ordered heightened vigilance against infiltration attempts, saying he has “complete confidence” in Iraq’s armed forces.
