EU And India Sign Landmark Free Trade Deal

The European Union and India signed a historic free trade agreement in New Delhi after nearly 20 years of negotiations. The deal was signed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU Council President Antonio Costa, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Von der Leyen called it “the mother of all agreements,” saying it creates a market of two billion people and strengthens supply chains. Modi said it is the largest free trade agreement in India’s history and will boost trade, investment, and jobs. The summit also launched the first EU–India security and defence partnership, expanding cooperation in defence, maritime security, and technology.
