China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, warned that the use of force would only worsen tensions in the Middle East, saying that “military adventurism will drag the region into an abyss of unpredictability.”
Speaking at a UN Security Council session in New York, Fu said Iran is a sovereign state and stressed that its internal affairs should be decided by its own people. He urged all parties to refrain from threats and the use of force, adding that China supports stability in Iran and across the region.
Fu also called on the United States and other actors to avoid escalating tensions, emphasizing that the Middle East “belongs to the people of the region and should not become a battleground for great-power rivalry.”
