The US military said at least two “narco-terrorists” were killed in an attack on a boat suspected of drug smuggling in the eastern Pacific Ocean. In a statement, United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said the strike was carried out under Operation Southern Spear after intelligence confirmed the vessel was transporting drugs along a known smuggling route.
SOUTHCOM said one person survived the attack and that the US Coast Guard was notified to conduct a search and rescue operation. The strike was directed under the command of SOUTHCOM chief Francis L. Donovan.
