The UK High Court in London ruled that the government’s decision to ban Palestine Action under counter-terrorism laws was “unlawful” and disproportionate. Judge Victoria Sharp said only a small part of the group’s activities met the legal definition of terrorism and that the ban significantly interfered with freedom of expression and assembly.
Co-founder Huda Ammori called the ruling a “tremendous victory.” UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the government would appeal the decision, insisting the ban was necessary for national security.
