A worker was killed in a landslide at a nickel processing plant on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, following heavy rainfall. The incident occurred at the mining waste area of the facility operated by PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park.
Company spokesperson Dedy Kurniawan said the landslide swept away construction machinery and operations at the site have been suspended. Authorities have launched an investigation into possible negligence or safety lapses.
