A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Ternate in Indonesia’s North Maluku province, leaving at least one person dead and many others injured. The severe tremor, which hit at a depth of 35 kilometers, triggered widespread panic and prompted temporary tsunami warnings for several nearby coastal nations. Small tsunami waves measuring up to 75 centimeters were recorded on the neighboring northern Sulawesi Island before authorities officially lifted the alert.
