Trump Congratulates Artemis II Crew on Space Record

From the White House in Washington, D.C., US President Donald Trump placed a historic phone call to the four astronauts aboard NASA’s Artemis II spacecraft to congratulate them on breaking the human record for the furthest distance traveled from Earth. During the 12-minute conversation, Trump praised the international crew as “modern day of pioneers” and emphasized that their groundbreaking lunar mission has inspired the entire world. In response, the astronauts shared their most awe-inspiring moments from deep space, including catching a glimpse of Mars and watching Earth emerge from behind the far side of the Moon. Celebrating the crew’s achievement of surpassing the 1970 Apollo 13 distance record by over 6,600 kilometers, Trump concluded the call by promising to host the astronauts at the White House upon their safe return.
