The European Union has officially rolled out its new digital Entry-Exit System (EES) across all 29 Schengen countries. Non-EU travelers entering Europe must now provide biometric data, including fingerprints and facial photographs, at self-service kiosks instead of receiving physical passport stamps. While the system is designed to enhance security and automatically track visa overstays, the mandatory registration process has caused significant delays at various border checkpoints. In response to the long queues, the European Commission has permitted temporary suspensions of the biometric checks during peak travel times until September.
