Sarajevo’s Chilling ‘Human Safari’: Competing to Target Beautiful Women

A new book by Croatian journalist Domagoj Margetic exposes a chilling “war tourism” ring during the 1992-1996 Siege of Sarajevo, where wealthy foreigners paid Serbian forces to hunt civilians. Shockingly, these international gun enthusiasts engaged in a morbid competition to see who could kill the “most beautiful women,” paying exorbitant fees that peaked at $72,000 for pregnant victims. Margetic’s claims, rooted in documents from a late Bosnian intelligence officer, add fresh weight to ongoing war crime investigations in Europe. Furthermore, previous testimonies from UN personnel at The Hague have corroborated the presence of these armed tourists at sniper outposts overlooking the city. These grim revelations expose a disturbing new facet of a historic siege that ultimately claimed over 11,000 lives.
