Lebanon Reports Widespread Destruction Despite Ceasefire

Despite an April 17 ceasefire agreement, ongoing Israeli military strikes in Lebanon have caused severe infrastructure damage and mounting civilian casualties. Chadi Abdallah, head of the Lebanese National Scientific Research Council, confirmed that recent attacks have completely destroyed 5,386 homes and damaged another 5,246. Compounding the crisis, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 380 people have died and 1,122 have been injured since the truce officially began. These recent figures add to a devastating overall toll since hostilities resumed on March 2, which currently stands at 2,896 killed and 8,824 injured. The continuous violence raises serious international concerns as the region grapples with a rapidly deepening humanitarian emergency.
