Denmark Ends Record 69-Day Deadlock With New Coalition

 

After a historic 69 days of intense negotiations, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has successfully formed a new four-party coalition government. Following a meeting with King Frederik X, Frederiksen announced her Social Democrats will govern alongside the Socialist People’s Party, the Social Liberal Party, and the Moderates. Acknowledging that the prolonged political process was “long and difficult,” she emphasized that reaching a viable agreement was ultimately essential for the country’s future. Now entering her third term as prime minister, Frederiksen will unveil the official government program today and announce her new cabinet tomorrow.
