Ukraine Strikes St. Petersburg Oil Terminal Ahead of Economic Forum

Ukrainian forces launched long-range drone strikes on a major oil terminal in St. Petersburg, casting a shadow over the start of the city’s premier international economic forum. Local officials reported that the overnight attacks targeted three districts, resulting in infrastructure damage, several injuries, and the temporary delay of over 20 flights at the local international airport. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy quickly confirmed the operation, noting that the targeted oil facility sits 1,100 kilometers from the border and directly fuels the Russian war effort. He added that Ukrainian drones also successfully hit the Kronstadt naval base and a weapons manufacturing plant in the Tambov region. Zelenskyy praised the precision of the strikes, emphasizing that targeting military logistics deep within Russian territory is a crucial step toward bringing peace closer.
