Five Nations Secure UN Security Council Seats

In a notable upset, Portugal and Austria secured the two available Western European seats, shutting out Germany despite Berlin’s intense diplomatic campaign. Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan claimed the highly contested Asia-Pacific seat by overcoming the Philippines in a decisive third-round vote.
