Car Bombing Near Moscow Killing Driver

A moving vehicle rigged with explosives detonated early this morning in the Moscow suburb of Balashikha, instantly killing the driver. The Russian Investigative Committee has launched a probe into the 05:30 blast, which occurred near an apartment building on Koldunovo Street. This incident follows a string of high-profile assassinations in the Russian capital since the country’s attacks on Ukraine began in February 2022. In December 2025, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov died in a similar car bombing blamed on Ukrainian intelligence. A year prior, two other top military officials were killed by an electric scooter bomb in an attack claimed by the Ukrainian Security Service.
