Magnitude 6.7 Quake Strikes Indonesia’s Sulawesi

A powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake has shaken central Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, sending panicked residents of Palu rushing into the streets. The shallow tremor, which struck at a depth of just 10 kilometers, caused building walls to crumble, roofs to collapse, and forced local hospitals to urgently evacuate their patients outdoors. The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency is currently assessing the affected areas to determine the full extent of the damage and any potential casualties. This latest seismic event has reignited deep fears in the region, which is still scarred by a 2018 disaster that killed over 4,000 people in Palu and a 2021 quake near Mamuju that claimed at least 100 lives
