Turkish aerospace firm Baykar and Italian defense contractor Leonardo have successfully completed the first live test flights of their K-SWARM program, demonstrating advanced crewed and uncrewed teaming capabilities. Conducted in Çorlu, the milestone flights involved a Bayraktar KIZILELMA unmanned combat drone flying in tight coordination with a Leonardo M-346 Fighter Attack jet and an Italian Air Force T-346A chase plane. The joint tests successfully confirmed the advanced communication and operational capabilities between the manned and unmanned platforms in a live environment. This breakthrough lays the crucial foundation for future air combat, where a single fighter jet can simultaneously control a swarm of autonomous drones for coordinated reconnaissance, surveillance, and attack missions.
